And as if we hadn't eaten enough,
desserts lurk at the other end of the buffet table, tempting us
with their rich textures and sweet smells. One thing Mature
Friends never skimp on is dessert. As you can see, we had quite a
variety, from cakes and cupcakes to pies and cookies. True to past
experience, most of the desserts had been gobbled up before we
began the afternoon's activities.
Fortunately, when the walkers returned, there was still dessert
left for them to gorge on. Nothing like a brisk, three-mile hike
to renew an appetite.
All too soon, the picnickers began to vanish and soon the crowd
had dwindle to just a few, mainly those in charge of stripping the
paper table cloths, packing up the soft drinks, and cleaning up
the site to return it to the condition in which we found it.
Yes, the picnic was finally over. But take heart! Join us next
